These valves are used to connect the pumps in series for long distance fire fighting operations. The outlet of first fire pump is connected to the inlet of the second, the outlet of the second fire pump is connected to the inlet of the third and so on. A maximum of 5km distance can be achieved by connecting the pumps in series.
